This year marks a remarkable milestone — the 10th anniversary of the Lions Barber
Collective (LBC). What began in 2015 as a grassroots movement, inspired by founder Tom
Chapman’s vision to use the trusted space of the barbershop to prevent suicide, grew into
an internationally recognised charity changing lives across industries and communities.
Now it continues after lack of funding forced closure of the charity itself in 2024.
Over the past decade, LBC has trained thousands of barbers and hair professionals
through BarberTalk, empowering them to spot signs of mental distress, open conversations,
and signpost clients to support. From winning innovation awards to being recognised by
government and royalty, the movement has always stayed rooted in one simple truth: a
conversation can save a life.
Now, to mark this 10-year anniversary, we’re proud to announce the launch of Here To Talk.
Online Training — a new step in making these skills accessible to everyone, everywhere.
